Trap Raid is a vibrant action undertaken by Anti-Corruption Establishment to catch an accused red-handed while taking bribe. The presence of a special judicial magistrate as a supervisor is mandatory along with the ACE officer. Trap Raid can be conducted to catch any public servant while committing an offence under the Anti-Corruption Laws.

The mechanism starts from the submission of an application in person, by the aggrieved person, to the Deputy Director at District level or Regional Director. The Regional Director appoints an ACE Officer to conduct the raid. The concerned ACE officer requests the Learned District & Sessions Judge for the appointment of a special judicial magistrate as a Trap Raid Supervisor. After completion of raid’ proceedings, the Raiding Magistrate records a detailed raid report and hand over the proceedings to the officer of ACE to proceed further as per law.
